The role:
Reporting to the General Manager, Procurement, you will be responsible for the provision of strategic procurement advice for one of Sunwater’s largest infrastructure delivery projects, whilst maintaining alignment with State Procurement policies. You will bring thought leadership to the role in order to drive a continuous improvement philosophy and sustainable business environment for Sunwater. This role is critical to ensuring Sunwater’s procurement function achieves its vision of ‘Buying better together’.
Other responsibilities include:
- Providing advice and leadership for early engagement of procurement and planning, risk assessment and strategy development for major projects
- Providing advice and leadership for the development and implementation of procurement plans to support major projects
- Providing advice and leadership for the implementation of commercial processes, procedures and resourcing
- Supporting IDD representatives in co-ordination of market sounding activities and procurement process
- Providing advice, leadership and management relating to supplier relationship management and contract management of key commercial suppliers in emerging industry areas
- Supporting cross functional procurement project teams, which may at times include joint venture partners and consultants
- In collaboration with project teams, identifying and managing commercial, contractual, operational, financial, reputational, ethical and supply chain risks to minimise negative impacts on category objectives
You will bring:
We are seeking an experienced professional with demonstrated extensive experience in a commercial role within the construction industry, particularly in the management of large-scale infrastructure projects (>$100M). You will have a demonstrated ability to build relationships with key stakeholders, including strong skills in negotiation and advocacy, sound knowledge with project controls and project performance metrics. In addition you will have extensive knowledge and experience in the development and management of Australian standard and bespoke contracts, as well as an ability to understand the early signs of project distress and resolve contractual disputes.
In addition, you will have:-
- Tertiary qualification in engineering, law, finance or business.
- Significant experience in the development of complex contractual arrangements and sourcing methodologies in a capital intensive or major project development environment.
- Extensive contract management experience from a supplier’s and customer’s perspective, particularly in relation to engineering services, construction, goods and services, with a broad knowledge of Australian contract law in a capital intensive environment.
- Extensive experience with the development and implementation of supply optimisation strategies, procedures and negotiation strategies.
- Extensive experience managing supplier and customer relationships.
- Experience using SAP or equivalent financial systems.
- Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including to the ability to influence and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience within Government or GOC environments will be highly regarded.
