The Women’s is Australia’s first and largest specialist hospital dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of women and newborns. The Women’s is a major teaching hospital with strong affiliations to the University of Melbourne, with research and education integral to its role.
The Department of Neonatal Services at the Women's is a major tertiary referral unit serving the local population and the State of Victoria. The unit is one of the largest in the Southern Hemisphere and has a capacity to accommodate 62 infants. Our mission is to provide high quality care and support to newborns and their families. The Women’s is committed to the ongoing professional development of trainees. A wide range of clinical and audit meetings and specific education sessions are provided. There is a full day of protected education each month through the Melbourne Neonatal Fellowship Program. Trainees are also supported and encouraged to undertake quality improvement and/or research projects. The clinical case-mix and research activity of the unit provide a unique environment for the neonatal and/or paediatric trainee.
The Women's is accredited by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians for 18 months core and 6 months non-core training in Neonatal Perinatal Medicine. This position is suitable for doctors with a minimum of 6 months experience in a tertiary Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and demonstrated competency in neonatal procedures.
The Classification and Salary scale will be dependent on experience and you will be appointed in accordance to the AMA Victoria – Victorian Public Health Sector – Doctors in Training Enterprise Agreement 2022-2026.
